Die Struck Soft Enamel Lapel Pins

The Die Struck Soft Enamel process is arguably the most recognizable process for making lapel pins and is most notable for its embossed look and feel. PinMart can turn your ideas into a custom designed work of art. With the Die Struck Soft Enamel process your design is die struck into solid brass or copper and enamel colors are applied by hand to the recessed area. Care is taken so that the raised metal areas remain higher than the enamel colors so that the lapel pin has that distinctive look and feel. Your custom lapel pin can be plated in a variety of finishes and can include a wide array of options that can make your design a truly unique lapel pin.

Key Features: Enamel colors sit below the surface giving the pin an embossed look and feel

Best uses: For a traditional look and good quality at an affordable price.

How are they made?

Die Struck Soft Enamel lapel pins are made in much the same way as the Die Struck lapel pin except no enamel colors are used. We start by making a die with your design in it and we use this die to strike your design in a copper or brass base metal. We use copper or brass because the soft properties of these metals allows for a sharp and detailed stamping. If called for in your design we hand sand blast the pin to create the textured or “sandblast” background. After this stage enamel colors are applied to the recessed areas based on your design. A syringe filled with enamel paints is used to apply the color to the wells created by the stamping process. Your pins are then baked in a 350 degree oven to cure the enamel. A trim tool is then used to carefully cut out the outside shape of your lapel pin. The raised surface of your lapel pin is then polished to a mirror like finish. Finally, the attachment of your choice is applied and your pin is inspected for quality and packaged for shipping.
